David Wurm, born in 2000 in Hamburg, has already appeared as a solo violinist in major concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. In October 2024, he gave his solo recital debut at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. He performs regularly throughout Germany and is also active across Europe. His international engagements have taken him to Sweden, Austria, Italy, Cyprus, and China, where he has performed solo concerts in renowned venues.
Since June 2022, he has served as concertmaster of the Albert Schweitzer Youth Orchestra, where he combines artistic leadership with the mentorship of young musicians. In addition, he has held concertmaster positions with the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie, the International Mendelssohn Summer School Festival Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. He is also a founding member of the Hamburg Chamber Orchestra.
David Wurm’s musical achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including first prize at the national competition “Jugend musiziert Bundeswettbewerb” in the solo violin category. In 2014, he recorded works for the radio station NDR 90.3, appeared in the NDR Hamburg television program “Das!” in 2017, and took part as primus inter pares in a CD production in 2023. Since February 2020, he has been supported by Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Hamburg e.V. He has also served multiple times as a jury member at the Hamburg regional competition of “Jugend musiziert”. In December 2024, another radio recording followed in collaboration with Deutschlandfunk Kultur and NDR Kultur. David Wurm performs on a Giovanni Dollenz violin (Trieste, 1855).
David Wurm began his studies at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre at the age of 14 as a junior student at the Andreas Franke Academy. In 2024, he completed his Bachelor’s degree under Prof. Christoph Schickedanz. He graduated from the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in 2019. Since 2014, David has participated in numerous masterclasses, where he studied with renowned musicians such as Tanja Becker-Bender, Niklas Liepe, David Gilham, Eberhard Feltz, Kevork Mardirossian, Lihay Bendayan, Niklas Schmidt, Rainer Schmidt, and Andreas Röhn.
